A Lexington mother says she's counting her blessings after her house caught fire.

Firefighters say it happened just after 7:00 Tuesday night. Neighbors spotted smoke coming from a duplex at 1833 Hisle Way.

Shannell Allen and her three kids had just stepped outside when someone yelled and told her the house was on fire.

The fire destroyed three upstairs bedrooms, mostly water damage to the lower level.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time. Allen did not have rental insurance. The mother and three children lost just about everything they owned in the fire.

If you would like to help the family you can contact the Allen's at
