Friends Reach Out To Help Severely Injured Teen

Video will be available shortly

A central Kentucky teenager is up against some serious odds after he was injured in a construction accident.

Garrard County High School freshman Cody Woolums remains in the intensive care unit at Kentucky Children's hospital, but his friends are taking some quick action to help in his recovery.

Cody Woolums was helping with a construction project Monday Morning when a wall collapsed and fell on him.

The 15-year-old has already had a couple of surgeries and we're told his injuries are severe, including needing a breathing and feeding tube.

When his friends heard how serious things were, they admit were scared, but they've turned their worries into something positive. They are now trying to raise money to help pay for his medical bills.

Students at Garrard County High School are asking more than their classmates to help. They're putting jars up all over town, asking the community to help Cody.

Folks at the school said they can't think of anyone who doesn't like Cody. He's the guy with the great laugh who is always fun to be around.

Teachers say when Cody is well enough to have visitors, they'll be collecting the money and taking it to his family.
