Kentucky State Police continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting that ended with a suspect dead.

Boyle County Sheriff's deputies and State Police went to 61-year-old Roger King's home on Forkland Road late Wednesday to serve him with an arrest warrant and emergency protective order.

That is when, according to police, troopers saw King brandish a gun at them through a window.

State police say Trooper Eric Taylor fired one shot into the home.

"Just recently, Mr. King was accused of firing shots at one of our troopers also," explained Kentucky State Police Post 7 Spokesman Trooper Chris Lanham.

At that point, the officers didn't know what kind of condition King was in; they thought he may have barricaded himself inside the home with his gun.

"The special response unit drove around with their armored car. they could see inside the home and see Mr. King on the floor with an obvious gunshot wound," Lanham explained.

King's body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner's office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

No one else was injured during the incident.
