Richmond Police Officer Injured In Fiery Crash

A car was exiting off exit 90 in Richmond when the driver failed to stop at the bypass, and then crossed the median, and hit the a Richmond police officer's Canine Unit SUV head on.
The SUV then burst into flames. When crews arrived they were able to quickly put out the fire. The officer, Travis Bowles, 32, was taken to UK hospital with non life threatening injuries. The dog was taken to a local veterinarian for observation.
Some of the passengers in the other car were Clark County high school students headed to prom on EKU’s Campus. Three of those passengers were taken to Pattie A. Clay hospital with minor injuries. State police are investigating. Officials say the driver of the other car may have had a suspended license. A blood test is being done to determine if he was under the influence.
