Grandmother Indicted By Grand Jury

Video will be available shortly

She's accused of an unthinkable crime: jumping off an interstate overpass with her three-year-old granddaughter in her arms.

Monday, a Bath County grand jury decided the case against Teresa Jordan should go to trial.

50-year-old Theresa Jordan of Owingsville jumped nearly 30 feet from the Kentucky 211 overpass onto the shoulder of Interstate 64, holding her step granddaughter, Makayla Carpenter, this March.

Police charged Jordan with assault following a lengthy investigation.

Eyewitnesses tell 27 NEWSFIRST they saw a woman leaning over the edge of the bridge, looking down, right before it happened.

The toddler had injuries that required surgery on her leg, but has since been released from the hospital and is making a recovery.

Jordan has also been released from the hospital and could face jail time if convicted.

A trial date will be set after a special judge is assigned.
