UPMC to Open Injury Lab at Fort Campbell, Kentucky

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has a laboratory to study and prevent injuries to athletes. Now the university is opening a similar facility to benefit soldiers at a Kentucky army base.

U-P-M-C's Injury Prevention and Performance Enhancement laboratory will opens today at Fort Campbell.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says the military facility will mirror the Neuromuscular Research Laboratory that U-P-M-C operates at Pittsburgh's South Side sports medicine facility.

The goal of the Army facility will be to prevent soldier injuries and to hasten recovery. The lab at Fort Campbell will be housed in a converted gymnasium.
