Murder Suspect Appears In Court

A man who Lexington police labeled a serial killer appeared in Fayette County court earlier Friday afternoon.

Robert Smallwood faces murder charges of three women. Smallwood appeared in court Friday for a hearing, and a pretrial conference date was set for May 21st.

Police say all three of his victim's bodies were found in Lexington and say he also faces charges of four counts of rape, and burglary. The first victim, Doris Roberts, was found dead in her in her Fourth Street apartment back in December of 1999.

Then in August 2002, Sonora Allen's body was found in a parking lot on Fortune Drive and in April of 2006, Erica Butler was found murdered on Kenton Street.
