Yellow Bikes Ready For Riding

There's a new way to get around downtown Lexington. A new program called yellow bikes is designed to get downtown drivers out from behind the wheel and onto bikes.

For 10 dollars you can become a lifetime member and take one of the bikes for a spin any time you want from April to October in the downtown area.

Those who want to ride the bikes should sign up and pay the fee at Pedal Power Bike Shop, the High Street YMCA, Downtown Lexington Corp., or at Thursday Night Live, held 5-7 p.m. every Thursday from June to August in Cheapside Park.

Yellow Bikes riders are encouraged to keep the bikes in the downtown area. After a person is done with the bike they are supposed to lock it up at the downtown tracks. The bikes have baskets for holding purses, briefcases, and packages.
