Laura Riddle was reunited with her best friend Friday while recovering at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital. Riddle's beloved dachsund "Sara" went missing after a car wreck earlier this month along Highway 68 in Bourbon County.
Riddle said she was trying to put out a cigarette when she lost control of the car and flipped several times. She suffered serious injuries and "Sara" fled the scene. Riddle thought the little dog was gone for good.
Relatives searched the area around the wreck, determined to find the dog dead or alive. Little "Sara" was found exactly one week after the wreck in a barn about a quarter mile from the scene. She was dehydrated and slightly injured but appeared to be fine overall.
Riddle is expected to be home by Christmas and says that she believes she and "Sara" will be closer than ever. She says that she will never smoke a cigarette again.
