27 NEWSFIRST Exclusive - Laurel Co. Man Arrested In Toddler's Death

Bradden Collopy died at UK hospital Tuesday night. He was rushed there from his home in Laurel County. Clarence David Mullins, 28, was watching the 16 month old at the time. Mullins had only been dating Bradden's mother for two weeks. Mullins told police the toddler fell from his crib, but police said the story didn't add up. 27 NEWSFIRST was in Laurel County Thursday night as police charged Mullins with murder.

Mullins appeared in Laurel Circuit Court Friday morning. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. Family members have not commented on his arrest.

Initially, Bradden's family and neighbors say the boy died because the Laurel County EMS took too long to respond. But, the Fayette County Coroner says Bradden's head injury was so severe, it's unlikely a quicker emergency response would have helped.
