Print

A southern Kentucky man is in serious condition today at UK Medical Center after a fight. The Laurel County Sheriff says the fight started over stolen balloons.

The sheriff says Brad Freeman and Shawn Asher went to a home on Old State Road to asked about the missing balloons.

Witnesses say the two men then began to argue with the homeowner, Charles Murphy, and a 14-year old boy. The sheriff says when Murphy tried to get Freeman and Asher to leave his house, a fight broke out.

Officials say Murphy hit Asher in the head with a piece of pipe and the 14-year-old boy attacked Asher with a baseball bat.

Freeman and Asher managed to get back in their vehicle and went to Marymount Medical Center.

Asher had to be flown to UK Medical Center in critical condition, but he's since been upgraded to serious condition.

Murphy and the 14-year-old boy were charged with first-degree assault.
