Officials in several Kentucky communities are now asking people to cut back on water.
As of Tuesday afternoon, voluntary restrictions were up in parts of seven counties. Pulaski, Scott and Shelby joined the list on Tuesday.
Because of the water shortage in the Peytona area of Shelby County, the school system has canceled classes on Wednesday at Heritage Elementary.
Many supervisors of water districts in those counties are asking people to hold off on watering the lawn, washing cars or filling up swimming pools.
Officials with many water companies tell us they hope enough people will conserve so they won't have to issue mandatory restrictions.
