Man Arrested After Violent Home Invasion and High Speed Chase

A man accused of beating a Georgetown couple inside their home will appear in court next week.

Stanley Stander, Jr. will be in Grant County District Court on Monday where he faces several charges in connection to a police chase.

Police in Grant County pulled a car over early yesterday morning that matched the description of a stolen car, after receiving a complaint of a reckless driver on I-75. The officer stopped the driver who then took off at a high rate of speed. Police chased the car until it crashed in Boone County.

Police say before that Stander broke into the home of Ralph and Mattie Michaels, assaulted the couple, tied them up and then stole their car.

After several hours, Ralph Michaels was able to free himself and contact police.

Ralph Michaels was treated at Georgetown Community Hospital, but has since been released. His wife, Mattie, was transported to UK where she's listed in stable, but serious condition with multiple injuries.

Stander has been charged with fleeing and evading, wanton endangerment, resisting arrest and reckless driving In Grant County.

Stander will face additional charges of assault, unlawful imprisonment, burglary, and robbery in Scott County.
