MURRAY, Ky. (AP) - The Murray Middle School PE teacher fired for trying to buy marijuana will get her job back, but not for two years.
A Kentucky Department of Education tribunal ruled Ann Greenfield
must undergo drug treatment, and if she successfully passes four
random drug screenings during the suspension period, she can return
to the classroom in fall of 2009.
The case received national media attention because Greenfield accidentally text messaged a Kentucky State Trooper instead of her drug dealer.
State police said she sent a text message to Trooper Trevor Pervine in an attempt to set up a marijuana buy.
Pervine met Greenfield near a day care center and arrested her.
Inside Greenfield's car, police said they found a smoking pipe and a small amount of marijuana.
