Teenager drowns in Fleming County farm pond

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (AP) - An eastern Kentucky teenager died
yesterday after drowning in a small pond.

Police say 15-year-old Christopher Thompson was aboard a
makeshift raft with two friends when a storm rolled in. Rather than
guide the raft back to the shore, but boys decided to swim for it.

Thompson struggled to swim and accidentally pulled 13-year-old
Thomas Riggs underwater. Police say the third boy, 21-year-old
Cassidy Toller, was able to put Riggs on the raft and push him to
safety. Toller then went to look for Thompson but couldn't find
him.

Thompson's body was recovered by rescue officials later in the
evening and he was pronounced dead on the scene. No foul play is
suspected.
