A recycling center became the site of a major rescue operation when a Whitley County teen ventured into an area he probably shouldn't have - a mud hole on the property of his family's recycling center.
13-year-old Ronny "Diggy" Dees went out to play in the mud hole Saturday evening. He got stuck up to his waist in mud. Family members tried to dig him out but eventually had to call rescue crews in. Despite all the heavy equipment available to them, crews used their hands and shovels to dig Dees out.
Dees was stuck in the mud for about four hours and was suffering from hypothermia.
He was transported to a hospital in Jellico, Tennessee but has since been released.
