Road Project Turns Neighbor Against Neighbor

Updated: Mon 8:37 AM, Jun 04, 2007

A debate is brewing in one Lexington neighborhood over a street that has two different ends. Some want the ends of Saron Drive connected so it can provide easier access to Tates Creek Road. But others who live there say that could cause a traffic nightmare.

In 2003, the City purchased property in the area through eminent domain in order to create the connection. Now the City of Lexington is halting plans to complete that construction this summer due to strong resistance from the neighborhood. The residents will have to reach an agreement with the City Council before the project can be completed. The resolution is scheduled to come up again this Thursday.
