Testimony heard in southern Ky. triple slaying

GLASGOW, Ky. (AP) - A police detective has offered details into
the grisly killing of three men whose bodies were found more than a
week ago by hunters in south-central Kentucky.
Kentucky State Police Detective Michael May testified Monday
that one victim was shot in the head, another was shot and beaten,
and the third was strangled with a dog collar and beaten.
May testified at a preliminary hearing for the two defendants in
Barren County District Court.
Miguel A. Velazquez of Cave City is charged with three counts of
murder and tampering with physical evidence. Marcos Bautista, also
of Cave City, is charged with complicity to murder and tampering
with physical evidence.
A judge sent both cases to the grand jury after a nearly 1
1/2-hour hearing.
Defense lawyers argued that the state has failed to establish
intent against the defendants.
