Crystal Grimes murder trial had just begun at Laurel Circuit Court, when she ended up in a plea bargain.
25-year-old Crystal Grimes was in the process of being tried in the 2005 murder of Gregory Rowe.
Investigators say after killing Rowe, Grimes and her boyfriend, Christopher Wages, took Rowe's car, mutilated his remains, and tried to hide the evidence.
Wages was found guilty last year, and is now serving a life sentence.
Jury selection was already underway when Grimes pleaded guilty to felony theft and tampering with physical evidence charges.
Prosecutors recommended five years on each count, which will be served concurrently, meaning a total of 5 years.
Formal sentencing is scheduled for August 17th.
