It didn't take long for police to catch a robbery suspect early Wednesday morning in Lexington.

Police say a security guard chased the suspect after the man tried robbing the Shell Station on Nicholasville Road at Southland Drive.

Police say the robber used a butcher knife to demand money from the cashier.

A security guard chased the suspect around the building and flagged down an off-duty Fayette County Sheriff's deputy who took the suspect into custody.

The suspect's name hasn't been released.
