Rounds of showers and thunderstorms could cause issues across the region Saturday. Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes will be possible.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The American Red Cross warns that identity thieves appear to be targeting military family members in Ohio and elsewhere.
The Red Cross of Greater Columbus says a child or spouse might get a call saying that a service member has been hurt in Iraq. The caller says the soldier's Social Security number and date of birth need to be verified before treatment can begin at a military hospital in Germany.
The Red Cross says it's a scam aimed at obtaining personal information. It says its people typically do not contact military members or their families directly and says anyone receiving one of these calls should resist giving out the information requested and contact authorities.
