Severe Storms Leave Damage In Central Kentucky

More Video...

People in parts of the state are cleaning up after a round of severe storms on Tuesday.

The heavy rain, high winds and hail rolled into the Lexington area around rush hour Tuesday evening.

The storms sparked several severe thunderstorm warnings and even a tornado warning after a funnel cloud was reported in Franklin County.

One of the hardest hit areas in Central Kentucky was along Harrodsburg Road near the Fayette - Jessamine line. Dozens of trees and power lines were knocked down in the area around the Champions Trace Golf Course. Power was out for much of the evening.

High winds ripped off the roof at Fire Station #6 off of Bellerive Boulevard. There was serious water damage inside the building. Much of the computer equipment inside the station was destroyed.

The storms also packed plenty of hail, some up to the size of a golf ball. In many areas, the hail came down so fast it covered the ground like snow.

The storms dumped up to an inch of rain in many areas, but it is not expected to be enough to bring the region out of a moderate drought.

There were no reports of any injuries from the storms.
