Police Standoff In Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Police are involved in a standoff with a man who is a suspect in a morning holdup at a McDonalds restaurant on Louisville's south side.

Metro Police spokesman Phil Russell says one suspect has been taken into custody for questioning, while another is armed with a handgun and is hiding in a house (in the three-thousand block of Faywood). The site is near Churchill Downs.

Russell says the SWAT team officers have been talking with the suspect by phone, but he has not indicated a desire to surrender.

Russell says the man will be "waited out" as long as he does not pose a threat to anyone. (Seventh Street is shut down at Berry Boulevard.)

The holdup happened just before eight o'clock this morning. No
one was injured during the robbery.
