Hot & Windy Day Ahead

Highs in the upper 90s are predicted today along with strong winds. But unlike "wind chill," in the winter, Weather Service Meteorologist Benjamin Schott in Louisville says there is no "feels like" table when the temperature is high and the wind is strong.

Schott says it actually feels a bit cooler because the wind evaporates moisture from the skin. Schott says it is doubtful heat advisories will be issued today. He says they are usually issued when the temperature reaches 100-to-105 degrees.

By late morning, southerly wind gusts are predicted to reach 35
miles per hour. Boaters and drivers of high-profile vehicles are
cautioned. The wind could be more dangerous on east-west routes
such as Interstate 64 and the Martha Layne Collins-Bluegrass
Parkway.

A cold front will approach Kentucky from the northwest early
tomorrow and exit to the south and east tomorrow night.
Some strong to severe storms are predicted to develop along and
ahead of the front.
