Rain Comes At a Price for Some Farmers certainly needed this week's rain, but they didn't need the hail and severe weather that came with it.
Bob James, a farmer in Fayette County, says storms damaged much of his tobacco and corn.
He'll have to spend much of Friday replanting the 30 acres of tobacco he lost. He says that will cost upwards of $10-20,000.
If farmers continue to suffer crop damage from storms and the drought, they say everyone else will be affected too.
It could cause an increase in the price for corn, and beef products like hamburger.
That's because many farmers use corn as the primary feed for livestock.
James says several inches of hail covered his farmland Tuesday.
He doesn't recall seeing or even hearing about a hail storm as bad as the one this week.
