Former State Official To Plead Guilty To Misdemeanor

A former official in Governor Ernie Fletcher's administration is expected to plead guilty to a misdemeanor Monday.

The case stems from the state hiring investigation.

Former state highway engineer Sam Beverage has agreed to a plea deal to a lesser charge of official misconduct.

He could receive a $500 fine and up to 12 months in jail.

A Franklin County grand jury originally charged Beverage with perjury in May 2006.
