Madison County Smoking Ban Begins

Beginning Tuesday, smokers in Madison County have fewer places where they can light up.

A county-wide smoking ban begins.

It covers all enclosed public areas such as restaurants, bars, stores workplaces.

Health officials say they will start issuing citations after a brief grace period.

Smokers caught breaking the ban could be fined up to $50.

For businesses, the fine is $300.

The Madison County Health Department passed the ban in April.
