Freak Accident in Clark County

By: DeAnn Stephens Email

A freak accident in Clark County on Monday has a man fighting for his life.

He was operating a rig to move large utility poles when one of the poles fell and then bounced on him. He was hurt so badly, he had to be airlifted to UK hospital.

The worker was not employed by East Kentucky Power Cooperative, instead by Irby Construction, a contractor out of Jackson, Mississippi.

Officials from Irby and East Kentucky Power Cooperative say they will now begin an internal investigation.

The man's name and his condition have not been released.

Irby Construction officials are coming to Kentucky to look into the accident.
