Thousands lose power in Lexington, Winchester

Thousands of KU customers lost power in Lexington and Winchester after a line broke and fell onto a Lexington Police crusier.

A Lexington police officer says he made a traffic stop on Winchester Road at East Loudon when a transformer blew and power lines came down on his cruiser.

No one was hurt.

Customers impacted include people living around Loudon and Winchester in Lexington and people living on the north and west side of Winchester.

Crews are working on the power. No word on when it will be fixed.
