A Lexington woman who admitted to killing a man with her Porsche learned just how long she'll spend behind bars for the crime.
Sheila Whitler took a plea deal last month, accepting seven- years in prison for 2nd degree manslaughter and DUI. She admitted to hitting 31-year-old John Vice in 2007 as he crossed Man O'War. Police say her blood alcohol level was above the legal limit and she had prescription drugs in her system.
During today's sentencing in Fayette Circuit Court Judge Pamela Goodwine had strong words for Whitler, telling her she should spend her time behind bars thinking about the life she took.
Whitler's attorney says they will try for shock probation in five months. If it's declined, she'll be up for parole in 14 months.
