Kentucky River Clean Sweep

A clean sweep is scheduled for the Kentucky River this Saturday.

The 2007 "Kentucky River Clean Sweep" was announced this morning during a press conference at Fort Boonesborough State Park Beach.

The annual sweep is a co-operative effort between the Kentucky River Authority and the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission.

Boaters and volunteers will gather from 9 a.m. To 2 p.m. to clean a 12-mile stretch of the Kentucky River, beginning at Clay's Ferry boat dock.

Twenty-four counties in the Kentucky River basin are expected to participate in the clean-up.

To volunteer for the Clean Sweep, call LexCall at 311 or (859) 425-2255 to pre-register.
