Members of the Church of Faith in Jesus Christ will have to find a new site of worship. The church which sits along the Limestone Creek on Fleming Road was heavily damaged by fire on Sunday.
Church pastor Arthur Whiteman says he was putting a fire in the church's wood burning stove at about 11:30 a.m. in order to warm up the sanctuary. He said a neighbor came by to let him know the roof of the building was on fire.
Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire within an hour. They managed to save the church's pews but much of the building is heavily damaged by smoke and water.
Pastor Whiteman says he hopes to repair the building and start again. However, he had no insurance on the building and is not sure how it will all get paid for.
The church has about 15 to 20 members.
