Police boost patrols, checkpoints during holiday

Kentucky State Police and LFUCG roads workers will both be cruising the streets with hopes of keepign drivers safe.

Police say they plan to spend the last day of 2009 looking for drunken and law-breaking drivers. Authorities will be doing DUI checkpoints and extra patrols. Officers will be looking for speeders, distracted driver and people not wearing seat belts.

Increased patrols will continue through Sunday.

Roads workers will begin salting and scraping the presumably icy roads beginning at Midnight January 1, 2010. Their efforts will continue until 8:00 a.m.
