Authorities say they received a call around 12:30 Sunday afternoon, from someone saying there had been a shooting on Lear Lane in Rockcastle County.
Kentucky State Police along with the Rockcastle County Coroner were on scene much of the day, after the body of 63 year-old Nick Williams was found inside his home.
Police weren't saying much about what may have led to the shooting.
Neighbors say they didn't know Williams very well.
"He lived so far out, we just saw him going by," said neighbor Connie Lear.
Lear's family owns several homes on the road. She says they last saw him driving by two days ago.
"I didn't know him.. but you never want anything bad to happen to your neighbors, that's not good," said Lear.
Authorities say Williams is believed to have lived in the house alone, and was a former attorney.
Police are not releasing who made the 9-1-1 call, or many more details about the shooting.
They are investigating the death as a homicide, but have no suspects at this time.
