Days of clearing snow on Powell County roads has used up all remaining salt supplies for the county, but the Judge Executive says more is on the way from a near-by state.

The county has a fleet of 5 pickup trucks with snow plows attached and also double as salt trucks.

But a combination of snow and freezing temperatures on days on end, has made the salt supplies in Powell County non-existent.

The salt shed, which can hold about 50 tons of salt, is empty. It was holding reserves from last winter but just five days into 2010 the salt is used up.

Help is on the way, Judge Executive Darren Farmer has a contract with a salt company in Illinois.

On Tuesday morning he was told a truck carrying the much needed salt was on the way, he just hopes it arrives before another snow storm does.
