Spam Complaints Prompt Shut-Down of Murray State Message Board

Print

MURRAY, Ky. (AP) - Murray State University has shut down an out-of-use Internet message board after getting complaints that links to pornographic Web sites were sent out by e-mail using a school address.

University webmaster Tony Powell says someone used the inactive message board as a host to send out e-mails with murray-state-dot-e-d-u as part of the address.

Powell says he does not know how many e-mails were sent out.

He says the pornographic material did not originate from the university, but the address was apparently pirated.

The old message board has been replaced with a new one that requires registration.
