Barn Fire At American Saddlebred Farm Leaves Several Horses Dead

A devastating barn fire kills several Kentucky Horses in Allen County.
It broke out at Triple T American Saddlebred Stables in Scottsville.

Nearly 20 show horses died.

Firefighters from three departments responded to the scene.

There were 24 stalls in the barn. It's believed all of them were filled.

Investigators are expected to return to the scene Wednesday to determine a cause.

Associated Press Story

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The part-owner of a barn that burned at the 3-T Farm in Allen County yesterday says the fire claimed the lives of 23 American Saddlebred horses and a mixed-breed horse.

Paige Tabor says a farm hand had just fed the 17 adult horses and seven foals and when he reached another barn on the farm, he saw the flames.

The exact cause of the fire was not immediately determined, but Tabor says it may have been electrical. She says arson is not suspected and she doesn't allow workers to smoke around the barns.

The farm was the scene April sixth, last year of the accidental death of World's Champion Breeder Randy Tabor. He died in an explosion while working on an oil tank at the farm. He was the husband of Paige Tabor.
