A Grant County bus driver who was behind the wheel when she crashed earlier this year will go to trial after all.

Court papers say Angelynna Young had drugs in her system when she crashed. She was supposed to take a plea deal in the case, but that all changed Wednesday.

Once in court, Young refused to go along with the plea deal.

The Grant County district judge asked Young if she was satisfied with her legal representation, and she said no. He then asked her if she was pleading guilty and she said no.

Young asked the judge if he wanted her to say yes, at which time the prosecution withdrew the plea bargain.

Young is facing 25 charges, including cocaine and marijuana possession, assault and endangerment.

The charges stem from the crash when she drove the Grant County school bus off the road in January. Prosecutors say she had drugs in her system that day.

The crash sent 17 middle school students to the hospital. A seventh grader named Cody Shively was one of the most seriously injured. He was released from the hospital in April.

The case will go to trial next Tuesday. Young faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted.

If she had agreed to the plea deal, she may have only received 22 years behind bars with a chance for parole after 10 years
