Cross dressing robber arrested

BEREA, Ky. (AP) - Berea police say they have charged a
40-year-old man in three central Kentucky armed robberies in which
the perpetrator was a man dressed as a woman.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported Friday that Troy N. Lear of
Brodhead was arrested Friday morning at a Berea fast-food
restaurant, where he was seen in the vehicle involved in Thursday's
armed robbery of a bank.

Berea police Chief David Gregory says Lear confessed to the
armed robberies of the bank, a check-cashing business and a motel.
Police say he was wearing women's clothes, a makeup and a wig in
all three.

He was taken to the Madison County jail and will be arraigned
next week in Madison District Court.
