Ky. wants public input on prescription drug abuse

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The first of five public events in
Kentucky to discuss prescription drug abuse is set for this week.
Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo announced the town hall meetings after
the death of Dr. Dennis Sandlin in December, who police say was
gunned down after he denied a man a narcotics scrip.
The Lexington Herald Leader reported the first forum will be
held Monday at 5 p.m. at the Perry County Public Library in Hazard.
They will include discussions on the growing problem of
prescription drug abuse, improving the safety of health care
providers and ways to expand treatment and prevention. Other
meetings will take place in Pikeville, Pineville and Morehead.
