Tragic circumstances for a central Kentucky volunteer firefighter late Tuesday night when a fire destroyed his barn.

It broke out on Chrisman Mill Road in Jessamine County.

The firefighter says he heard crackling and popping sounds, then realized his barn was on fire after hearing dispatchers tone firefighters to his property.

20 show goats were killed.

The owner was able to save about ten goats that were fenced in near the barn.

His daughter raised them.

The firefighter's home, which is next door, wasn't damaged.
