Ohio Authorities Say Baby Does Not Belong To Missing Woman

WOOSTER, Ohio (AP) - The Wayne County sheriff says a baby found on a doorstep doesn't belong to a missing pregnant woman.

The baby was left outside a home about 45 miles from where Jessie Davis lived in the Canton area in northeast Ohio.

The 26-year-old woman was reporting missing a week ago after her mother found the young woman's bedroom in disarray, the furniture overturned and Davis' young son home alone.

Sheriff Thomas Maurer says the woman from Wayne County concealed her pregnancy from her family and gave birth while at a hotel in neighboring Richland County.

The discovery of the baby Monday raised questions about whether the baby belonged to Davis, and D-N-A tests were being conducted to determine if it was hers.
