Tighter Security at This Year's Red, White and Boom Fourth of July Event

Print

With the expected large attendance of more than 50,000 people it is Lexington's largest summer event and Red, White and Boom coordinators are tightening the reigns.

The annual fourth of July celebration will still be held downtown at Rupp Arena's Cox Street parking lot, festivities beginning at three.

Country Superstar Gary Allan will be headlining the event with performances by George Molton, Scott Said and Bo Allen.

But if you're planning to go, prepare for some changes this year.
Instead of this being an open event like in years past the Cox Street lot will be fenced in this year.

You will see more security personal in all areas. People coming to the event will be searched at all entrances and there will be security sweeps of vehicles entering the lot.

You can still bring your camera's, binoculars, chairs and blankets but there are a few things you need to leave behind like food and drinks of any kind.

That means no coolers, no grills, no umbrellas and no backpacks allowed.

There will be a concession stand this year located under the bridge.
