Our focus now turns to the potential of record lows tonight. Many areas may wake up to thermometer readings below zero.
People from several states and countries gathered in Lexington today to remember an Asbury graduate, and evangelist who died earlier this month while saving his child from drowning.
David Gichuru was trying to rescue his ten year-old son who got caught in a rip tide while swimming at Newport Beach in California.
The child was not injured, but the 39 year old Wilmore man died at the hospital.
Gichuru came to the U.S. from Kenya where he was a preacher.
He was chaplain at U.K. Hospital when he died.
Those who knew him say the hundreds who poured into Saint Lukes United Methodist Church today is a Testament to the many lives Gichuru touched.
Guichuru is survived by his wife and two sons.
If you'd like to help them, you can mail a check made to the David Gichuru fund to student services at Asbury Seminary at 204 North Lexington Avenue in Wilmore 40390.
