Madison County Girl Killed On Bluegrass Parkway

He had just finished 18 months in Iraq and was headed home to Richmond with his family when tragedy struck.

The SUV Lawrence Jamie Carta was driving went out of control on the Bluegrass Pkwy. in Nelson County and flipped several times, according to investigators.

His 10 year-old daughter Macy was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.

Pamela Carta was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital with critical injuries.

Jamie and 15 year-old Phillip Akers were treated and released at a local hospital.

Jamie who is stationed at Fort Knox had just arrived home after spending 18 months in Iraq.

Investigators say they aren’t exactly sure how the accident occurred but say a severe storm could have played a factor.
