Thieves ransack home for copper

Thieves ransack a central Kentucky home, stealing copper and causing lots of damage.

Owner Ron Bratton discovered the damage yesterday at the home on Withers Avenue, off North Broadway, in Lexington.

No one was living there. Bratton says the person he was renting the home to had just moved out.

The crooks put holes in the dry wall, ripped out the hot water tank, destroyed the plumbing and the ceiling.

Bratton says the damage will cost several thousand dollars to repair.

The thieves only got away with $50 worth of copper.

A neighbor saw two men at the home Wednesday but thought they were there to do repair work.

No arrests have been made.
