Strong and severe storms continue to push across central and eastern Kentucky. This action should begin to wind down over the next few hours.
A Scott County High School senior is heading up an effort to collect three million jars of peanut butter in three weeks time. The jars will be sent to Haiti to assist those impacted by this week's devastating earthquake.
Shelby Weakley approached her teachers about her desire to collect peanut butter and they were quick to help her out. Together, they have approached other schools and organizations to help them reach their goal.
Currently, the Theatres of Georgetown is offering a free bag of popcorn to any patron who brings in a jar of peanut butter.
Weakley is working with the missions group Northwest Haiti Christian Mission to help get the peanut butter to Haiti.
The peanut butter collection effort will be taking place through February 9th. For more information go to www.pbforhaiti.blogspot.com.
