Men Steal Thousands From Victim In Rest Stop Scam

Video will be available shortly

A card game turns into a shots fired call for police in Scott County.

Police say a man was approached while eating lunch at the northbound rest area at mile marker 127. The victim says three men asked if he wanted to play a game of cards for money.

The victim agreed, then showed the men the five thousand dollars he had with him. That's when police say the suspects grabbed the money and the victim grabbed his gun.

The victim says he fired six shots at the men as they ran away

Police tell 27 NEWSFIRST the three suspects got away with the money. They don't know if any of the suspects were shot.

Police say this is becoming a common scam at rest areas.
