Young Teen Faces Bevy of Charges

PARIS, Ky. (AP) - Paris police have housed a 13-year-old boy in a Fayette County juvenile facility after a high-speed chase in central Kentucky that ended with a traffic crash.

The Lexington youth is accused of stealing a flatbed pickup from a Fayette County horse farm. When the truck, with no headlights and no tailights, sped along U-S 127 early yesterday, Paris police gave chase.

The Paris patrol car was joined by one each from the Bourbon County Sheriff's Department and Kentucky State Police. Cruising along at speeds up to 30 miles per hour over the speed limit, the juvenile missed a turn on Old Paris Road and crashed into some trees. He escaped with a cut.

The teen was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing and evading police, wanton endangerment and operating a vehicle without lights.
