There's a new edition of an old business getting ready to open in Lexington.

Champs Skate and Entertainment Center will open in about two weeks.
Joe Champa has been operating roller rinks in Lexington since 1974, and his father was in the business before him.

"My dad started with the tent rinks," Champa said. "He would around to Tennessee and Kentucky in the warm weather."

He says the new version of Champs is bigger and better than ever.
The facility for skating is about 4,000 square feet larger than what was available before. There are larger party rooms, and even a full service restaurant for parents.

The rink is decorated in bright neon colors. Champa says it will give kids the feeling of going to a club.

Champs will also have a laser arena, called the Lost City Laser Arena. It features state of the art laser equipment.

Champa hopes to have the new Champs Skate and Entertainment Center ready for business within the next two weeks.

The New Champs Skate and Entertainment Center is located near Meijers and Fayette Mall off Reynolds Road.
